Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 13, 2026
Roast My Rep ("the App", "we", "us") is developed by Leon Johnstone. This policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and what choices you have.
What we collect and process
- Videos and extracted still frames for analysis: When you choose a video from your photo library for analysis, the App processes the clip on your device and extracts representative still frames. Those still frames, along with related context you provide such as the movement name, selected discipline, and coaching notes, are sent to our backend to generate your coaching report. Our backend is hosted on Cloudflare Workers and currently uses Anthropic's Claude models to produce the analysis. The handling of data by Anthropic is governed by Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Profile information: The App may store information you provide, such as your name, preferred discipline, and persistent coaching notes. This data is stored in the App's data store and may sync across your devices using your iCloud account through CloudKit.
- Analysis history: The App stores your analysis results, ratings, movement labels, and related metadata so you can review your history and progress over time. This analysis history may sync across your devices using CloudKit. A low-resolution preview clip generated for a saved analysis is stored locally on your device and is not stored on our servers.
- Subscription verification information: If you purchase a subscription through Apple's App Store, Apple provides transaction information that we use solely to verify your subscription status and enforce plan limits. We do not receive your full payment card details.
- Free-credit abuse prevention data: For users who access free analyses without a subscription, the App uses Apple's App Attest system to prove requests are coming from a genuine app installation on a real Apple device. This involves sending an App Attest key identifier and signed assertions to our backend so we can enforce free-credit limits and protect the service from abuse.
- Diagnostic and analytics data: We use Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics, provided by Google, to understand app stability and overall usage patterns, such as errors, crashes, and aggregate feature usage. We do not use this data for advertising or ad targeting.
- Optional feedback submissions: If you choose to report a problem with an analysis, you may optionally send us your written feedback and, only if you explicitly opt in, a small number of downscaled still images from your clip so we can review what the AI saw. These reports are sent to our backend and stored for follow-up and quality improvement.
How we use this information
- To generate your movement analysis and coaching report.
- To store and sync your profile and analysis history across your devices, when CloudKit sync is available on your Apple account.
- To verify subscriptions and enforce free and paid usage limits.
- To investigate bugs, improve reliability, and improve analysis quality.
- To review user-filed feedback when you report a wrong or low-quality analysis.
Where your data is stored
- On your device: The App stores local profile data, analysis history, and locally generated preview clips on your device.
- In iCloud via CloudKit: Profile data and analysis history may sync through Apple's CloudKit service using your iCloud account.
- On our backend: Analysis requests, subscription verification requests, App Attest verification requests, and optional feedback submissions are processed through our Cloudflare Worker backend. Some limited backend records, such as usage counters, abuse-prevention records, temporary request deduplication records, and feedback submissions, may be stored by us as needed to operate the service.
- With third-party service providers: We use Anthropic for AI analysis, Google Firebase Crashlytics and Analytics for diagnostics and analytics, Apple for CloudKit sync, App Store subscription handling, and App Attest, and Cloudflare for backend request handling.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your data for third-party advertising or ad targeting.
- We do not run a public social feed or expose your private analysis history to other users.
- We do not store your original uploaded video on our servers as part of the normal analysis flow.
Your choices
You can choose whether to submit a video for analysis, whether to provide optional profile or coaching information, and whether to include still images when sending feedback. You can delete saved sessions inside the App. Because some app data may sync through CloudKit, deleting data from the App may also affect synced copies associated with your iCloud account. You can cancel your subscription through the Manage Subscription option in the App or through your Apple ID subscription settings.
Children's privacy
Roast My Rep is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
